A Level Drama & Theatre

A Level Drama Tuition for Students Who Want Top Grades

The step up from GCSE to A Level Drama is significant. The set texts are more demanding, the written exam expects critical depth, and the devising coursework needs to show genuine engagement with practitioners and theatre-making processes. We help students rise to the challenge.

Curriculum

What We Cover

Our A Level course is designed around the core components of the qualification, with teaching tailored to your child's specific exam board.

Devising Coursework

We guide students through the entire devising process: choosing a stimulus, researching and applying practitioner methodologies (from Brecht and Artaud to Frantic Assembly and Complicité), creating and refining original work, and writing the coursework portfolio. We focus on developing the critical voice that distinguishes an A or A* from a B.

Set Text Study

We work through the set texts in depth, exploring them as a performer, designer and director. Students develop the ability to move fluently between practical interpretation and analytical writing. We focus on the playwright's intentions, historical and social context, and the range of creative choices available when staging key scenes.

Written Exam Preparation

The written paper demands precise, well-structured responses that demonstrate both knowledge and creative imagination. We teach students how to construct arguments, use subject-specific terminology with confidence, and write about live theatre with the detail and insight that top-band answers require.

Performance Skills

For the practical components, we coach vocal and physical technique, characterisation, ensemble awareness, and stagecraft. Whether students are performing scripted extracts or devised work, we help them develop the polish and presence that examiners reward.
